PRIVACY POLICY
Internet Banking (E-banking) services are offered
to its customers from the Bank of Baroda’s
(BOB) Tanzania E-banking Portal https://intl.bobibanking.com/intl/tanzania/Tanzania.htm . BOB, Tanzania recognizes and respects the
importance of personal privacy of its customers and strongly committed to protect the privacy of
the personal information of its customers, including information that is of a confidential nature
for a customer availing any of the E-banking services.
Recognition of Customer’s
Expectation of Privacy
Collection, Use and Retention of Customer Information
The Bank collects, uses, and retains information about its customers
only, where it believes that it would be useful (and allowable by the law)
in administering its business, and providing products and services, and other
opportunities to its customers. The Bank collects and retains information only for the specific
business purposes.
Maintenance of Accurate Information
The Bank has implemented procedures to help assure that its customers’
financial information is accurate, current and complete in accordance with reasonable commercial standards.
While some procedures are required by federal or state law, it also has procedures for responding to requests
to correct inaccurate information in a timely manner.
Limiting Employee Access to Information
The Bank limits employee access to personally identifiable information to those with
a business reason for knowing such information. The Bank educates its employees so that they will understand the
importance of confidentiality and customer privacy. Customer privacy is also addressed in bank’s employee handbook
and in the Code of Ethics and Internal Code of Conduct.
Protection of Information
The Bank maintains appropriate security standards and procedures to prevent
unauthorized access to confidential customer information and to safeguard customer information.The Bank endeavors
to safeguard and ensure the security of the information provided by the Customer.
BOB, Tanzania
uses 128-bit Secured Socket Layer (SSL) encryption for the transmission of the information.
Restrictions on the Disclosure of Account Information
The Bank does not reveal specific information about customer accounts or other personally identifiable data
to unaffiliated third parties for their independent use, except for the exchange of information with a reputable credit bureau or similar
information reporting agency, to maximize the accuracy and security of such information, or in the performance of bona fide corporate due
diligence, unless:
Customer is required to co-operate with
BOB, Tanzania
in order to ensure the complete security of the information,
and it is recommended that the customers has to take care of the security of the Computer including Hardware, Software requirements, Internet Browser
supporting 128 bit encryption and SSL version 3.00 or higher for accessing E-banking application and choose the passwords carefully in such a manner
that no unauthorized access is made by a third party. To make the password complex and difficult for others to guess, the customers should use at
least one lower case character, one upper case character, one numeric character and one special character (like $, #, @, / etc.).
The Customer should not keep easy guess passwords like spouse’s name, daughter’s name, son’s name, favorite team etc.
The Customer should undertake not to disclose their password to anyone or keep any written or other record of the password such that a third party could access it.
Privacy Policy is subject to change periodically.
